Instant Pot Pasta Sauce

I’m Italian, so of course Pasta Sauce was one of the first things I learned how to make from scratch. This is a weekly dinner for us, and sometimes lunch too! haha. This recipe includes instructions for the Instant Pot as well as the Slow Cooker.

Grab the ingredients needed and let’s get started.

Start out by chopping the onion and garlic. Start by chopping the onion and garlic. Turn the Instant Pot to sauté mode. Add the olive oil when the pot is hot. Sauté the onion and garlic for 2-3 minutes.

Add the rest of the ingredients and stir.

Fresh tomatoes are always better, of course… but you can use diced tomatoes too! If using fresh tomatoes, add 3 cups of water.

Close the lid and turn the knob to sealing. Cook on HIGH pressure for 30 minutes.

When the timer is up, quickly release the pressure and remove the lid.

Blend with an Immersion Blender (I love this one!)

** To make in the Slow Cooker: sauté onion and garlic in olive oil in a pan on the stove. Add all ingredients to the slow cooker and cook on LOW for 8 hours or HIGH for 4 hours. Blend with an immersion blender and enjoy!

Ingredients

-4 15oz cans diced tomatoes. (or 8 cups fresh tomatoes diced)

-2 Tbsp olive oil

-3 cups water (only if using fresh tomatoes)

-1 onion diced

-5 cloves garlic minced

-1 ½ TBSP Italian Seasoning

-1 tsp salt

-1 tsp pepper

-1 tsp sugar

-pinch of red pepper flakes

 

 

 

Directions

  1. Start by chopping the onion and garlic. Turn the Instant Pot to sauté mode. Add the olive oil when the pot is hot. Sauté the onion and garlic for 2-3 minutes.
  2. Add the rest of the ingredients and stir. Close the lid and turn the knob to sealing. Cook on HIGH pressure for 30 minutes.
  3. Quickly release the pressure. Blend with an immersion blender. Adjust the seasonings if needed.
  4. Enjoy over your favorite pasta! 😊 YUM!!!!
